EMDR - Eye Movement Desesativisation and Reprocessing Therapy

EMDR therapy helps the brain process and heal from painful experiences that may feel “stuck.” Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, overwhelm, or patterns that no longer serve you, EMDR can help reduce emotional distress and create lasting change so you can move forward feeling more grounded, connected, and like yourself again.

Rewriting My Story

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, research-supported therapy approach designed to help the brain heal from distressing experiences and memories that may still be impacting your present life. Trauma, overwhelming experiences, attachment wounds, anxiety, difficult life events, and even chronic stress can become “stuck” in the nervous system, leaving you feeling triggered, overwhelmed, emotionally reactive, disconnected, or held back by patterns that no longer fit who you are today.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to share every detail of painful experiences or repeatedly relive them. Instead, EMDR helps your brain process experiences in a way that allows them to move from feeling immediate and emotionally charged to becoming memories that no longer carry the same intensity.

EMDR sessions are structured and move at a pace that feels manageable and safe. Treatment begins with getting to know your story, identifying goals, and developing coping and grounding skills to help you feel supported throughout the process. Together, we work to build resources and strengthen your sense of safety before moving into deeper processing work.

During EMDR reprocessing sessions, we identify specific memories, experiences, beliefs, emotions, or body sensations that continue to affect you. Using bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones—the brain is supported in processing these experiences naturally. Clients often notice shifts in thoughts, emotions, body sensations, or new insights emerging during sessions.

Every person's experience with EMDR is unique. Some sessions involve active processing, while others focus on preparation, resourcing, strengthening coping skills, or slowing down when life feels overwhelming. There is no “right way” to experience EMDR. You remain in control throughout the process, and we work collaboratively to ensure therapy feels supportive rather than rushed.

Many people seek EMDR for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic, grief, people-pleasing patterns, ADHD-related overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and negative beliefs such as “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not safe,” or “I have to do everything perfectly.” Over time, clients often report feeling more grounded, less emotionally reactive, more connected to themselves, and freer to move toward the life they want.

Healing does not mean erasing the past. It means changing your relationship with it so it no longer defines your present.
