About Me
I’m Martina Coordes, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the owner of Mirror Pond Therapy. For more than 20 years, I have supported individuals and families through trauma, anxiety, depression, difficult transitions, and periods of feeling overwhelmed or stuck.
I often work with adults who are used to being the strong, capable person the helper, fixer, high achiever, parent, and people-pleaser who holds everything together for everyone else. Many of my clients appear successful on the outside while privately struggling with burnout, perfectionism, ADHD, grief, relationship difficulties, or the lasting effects of painful experiences.
EMDR is my primary approach to therapy, and most clients who work with me can expect EMDR to be an important part of our work together. We will take time to understand what brings you to therapy, identify the experiences and patterns contributing to your current struggles, and prepare you for the processing work. EMDR is always collaborative, and you remain in control of the process.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
My style is gentle, warm, and supportive. Therapy with me is conversational and collaborative, with plenty of space for you to move at a pace that feels comfortable. You will never be expected to arrive knowing exactly what to say or how to explain what you are feeling. We will figure that out together.
Alongside EMDR, I incorporate mindfulness, self-care, and self-compassion into our work. Many of my clients have spent years criticizing themselves, ignoring their own needs, or believing they should be able to handle everything alone. Together, we will explore these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment and build a kinder, more sustainable relationship with yourself.
Therapy is not about “fixing” you. It is about helping you heal what continues to hurt, feel more grounded in the present, and trust yourself as you move forward.
Outside of the therapy room, I love reading, traveling, hiking, attending sporting events and concerts, and spending time with my two teenagers. I understand how full and complicated life can be, and I believe therapy can be a place where you finally have permission to slow down, take care of yourself, and focus on what you need.
